The Ion Award is the largest board game design competition in the United States! Games from all over the world are entered and judged by board game experts and publishers!
On January 31st, Gempire was named as a top 4 finalist in the Strategy category! As if this wasn't already crazy enough, on Feb 24th the four finalists (including me) were asked to present our games live to the judges on a digital platform called Tabletop Simulator. On Feb 25th, a whole adrenaline-laden twenty-eight hours later, I received perhaps the best news of my life. News that I never expected to hear in my wildest dreams. GEMPIRE WAS CHOSEN AS THE ION AWARD WINNER OF 2023!!! Many tears of joy ensued. The feeling is still indescribable. After working on something so hard for so long... To be recognized like this is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I hope that it brings me that much closer to giving you a game that you will enjoy for the rest of yours.
